It’s Monday! is a weekly meme originally hosted over at Book Journey that allows bloggers to post a sort of wrap-up of the past week while also looking to the week ahead. Without further ado…
Last Week: Adulting lesson of the week – when someone has helped you move in the past, you reciprocate. Which means that I spent Saturday helping my roommate’s sister move into a new apartment. Promised help from a group of her husband’s friends didn’t pan out, so the four of us tackled everything. By the end of the day, my mantra was “I’m strong and independent, I’m strong and independent”, which I kept repeating for strength as I dragged ottomans/heavy boxes/mattress and box springs up to the second floor. We got it all done in great time, then went out for a nice dinner. Thankfully, Sunday was much better, as I hosted my life group for a night of playing Concept!
The reading was pretty good this week. What I am finding is that even though I thought I’d have more reading time after my switch to day shift, the opposite is true. My time in the evening is spent watching TV or playing games with the roomies, doing adult things like shopping and chores, or just lolling around on the couch staring into space. Plus, no one told me that I would want to go to bed so early! Curses on early mornings!

Looking Ahead: Because we missed July’s, Katie and I are tentatively planning for a reading challenge in September. What that means for me is that I am trying to get through all the stuff I have checked out, some challenge stuff, a review copy or two…any loose ends that could trip me up later. It’s a race with time, one I’m not entirely certain that I can win!
Right now, all I want to do is curl up for a nap on this rainy day! Have a good week, everyone!
Great list! I’m looking forward to reading A Tale for the Time Being soon, and Pop Sonnets sounds genius! Have a great reading week. 🙂

I’m reading Pop Sonnets slowly, but it’s really fun so far, and a wide range of songs are represented! Highly recommended!

How do you like Packing For Mars? I couldn’t get around to reading the book in time for the read-along. I’ve heard lots of good things about A Tale for the Time Being.

It’s really interesting! Packed with a ton of fun trivia and teaching me things about our space programs that I didn’t realize I wanted to know. I love Mary Roach’s sense of humor and how she approaches different topics.

Darn! Your description makes me really want to read the book. Maybe I’ll just go and get it.

You should! Although I would take my encouragement with a grain of salt, as I tend to be an enabler! 🙂

Man, moving is exhausting for the people moving and for the good friends who help!
Do you know what your challenge will be yet or are you two throwing around ideas?

It is exhausting! Slept really well that night, though, so that’s a plus.
For our challenge, I think we’re gonna start the Halloween celebrations early and maybe read some Lovecraft. If that doesn’t pan out, we have War and Peace also ready to go!
